Great product, brutal renewal cliff

[01] Verdict

SiteGround runs on Google Cloud with genuinely good engineering — custom Nginx setup, SG Optimizer plugin, and one of the best support teams in shared hosting.

The pricing is the headline problem: StartUp is $2.99/month intro, then renews at $17.99/month — a 6x jump. Bandwidth limits are tight on the entry plan and they'll push you to upgrade aggressively.

Independent ownership is a plus in a Newfold-dominated market. If you treat it as a year-one product and either renegotiate or migrate before renewal, it's excellent. Otherwise you're paying premium-host prices for shared hosting.
