Cloudways

Managed cloud on DO/Vultr/Linode/AWS/GCP

[01] Verdict

Cloudways is a managed layer on top of DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS, and GCP — you pick the cloud, they handle the LEMP stack, caching, backups, and SSL. Entry plan is $11/month for a 1GB DO droplet equivalent.

Pricing is monthly with no renewal trick — what you pay year one is what you pay year three. Breeze cache, Redis, and Cloudflare integration are included. WooCommerce sites benefit from the dedicated resources versus shared hosting.

DigitalOcean acquired them in 2022. Support has stayed strong; expect the platform to integrate more tightly with DO over time. SSH access is provided but root is not.

"Their balance of features, performance, and pricing is outstanding. The managed WordPress hosting, free SSL, and the pay-as-you-go pricing model."
